Knowing your own risk of stroke means you can prevent it

Stress, lack of exercise, being overweight and having an unbalanced diet are features of the lifestyle in industrialised countries and over recent years have lead to a significant increase in illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes - underlying diseases which can lead to complications such as vascular diseases, and at worst even stroke. Changes in the blood vessels can be spotted early with the help of an MRI and your individual stroke risk can be assessed. This makes the pain-free, low-risk and radiation-free examination method a reliable diagnostic imaging format which enables you to take timely countermeasures. In collaboration with renowned neurologists, our specialist radiologists offer various neurological check-up programmes for early diagnosis and to rule out pathological changes.

Our neurological check-up packages

Basic: MRI of the skull and the extra and intracranial cerebral vessels. Detection / exclusion of circulatory problems in the brain, of narrowing and pathological expansion of the extra and intracranial cerebral vessels.

Advanced: additional neurological check-up exam with a neurological specialist. Detailed specialist neurological examination and subsequent MRI scan to show the brain and cerebral vessels.

Premium: in addition to the neurological exam and MRI diagnostics, as part of the premium package you receive a supplementary neurophysiological exam (electrocephalogram (EEG) with survey of evoked potentials).

Low-risk and radiation-free care.

An MRI scan is one of the most reliable and low-risk diagnostic procedures. Compared to X-rays or CT (computer tomography), the MRI exam creates images using magnetic fields and not through the use of X-rays. This makes the MRI a pain-, radiation- and side effect-free examination method with high diagnostic significance.

The examination procedure

After your friendly welcome, taking down of your personal information and explanatory meeting with the radiologist of your choice, you will be prepared for your examination. Administration of a contrast agent is required for this examination. Unlike conventional x-ray contrast agents, the contrast agents used by medneo contain no iodine and are instead made from gadolinium, so there are far fewer undesirable side effects. Your radiologist will give you detailed information on the risks and side effects before the start of the exam. You will then lie on a special MRI bed and be given headphones to protect against the loud machine noises. These headphones can be used to listen to your favourite music during the examination. You then enter the MRI device.

The examination
As soon as you hear the characteristic, loud knocking noises, the device is working and taking images. During this time it is very important that you do not move. There are several short sequences one after the other that all sound different. You will be accompanied by our staff at every stage of the exam and be given precise information on each of the individual exam steps.

The image evaluation
Your radiologist examines the images after the exam. Both the medical report and MRI images are then sent to you or your referring doctor, or to the specialist providing further treatment. Your neurologist will then have a final consultation with you. If required, we will gladly refer you to further specialists and provide you with an interpreter during the entire examination and discussion of the findings.
